Starting a New Team

Starting a new team is easy and rewarding! Our Quick Start Guide will give a concise overview of how IEA competition works and of the benefits of starting a new team. If you have any questions or need help getting started, please email our Membership Marketing Coordinator, Jennifer Eaton.

Applying for Membership

Membership applications are available from now until November 1 on the IEA website. All membership applications are available through an online application system that will allow payment through PayPal using your credit card or PayPal account.

A check list is available to help team leaders when organizing paperwork to send to the Membership Office. If you need help or have questions our Membership Office is always standing by.

Printing Applications

The printed application contains the signature page of each Membership Application and IEA Inherently Dangerous Activity Acknowledgement Waiver of Liability. The waiver must be signed by the coach, rider, parent/guardian and witnesses. (The coach may sign as witness.)

Applications will not be processed without all signatures.

If you have completed your on-line application but did not print it out, you may restart the application process without having to pay again.

On the page, "Step 3", under "Pay Online Now", select "Skip to Download". After downloading, you may print the application and fill in the required signatures.

Requesting Membership Applications by Mail

For members that reside in areas that do not have access to the internet, the IEA Membership Office will be happy to mail the 2013-14 Membership Forms. Expected delivery guidelines through the USPS for most of the continental United States is 7-10 business days.

Team Roster Is Not Yet Available

Team applications are processed by the Membership Office in the order in which they are received. Depending on the time of year and volume received by the Membership Office, the average wait time to receive a team roster is 15 business days. Once the roster is processed the team Coach will receive a welcome email from the office with access to the IEA database. If you believe that it has been more than 15 business days since the team applications were submitted we recommend contacting the Membership Office.

Log-in Unavailable for IEA Database

Coach and Contributing members that are registered with the IEA for the current season will have access to their team rosters through the IEA database until June 30th of the competition season. After June 30th all access to the team rosters is unavailable until the member re-registers for the new season.

Members that do not have access during the season should contact the Membership Office. Members that need team information after the season has ended can access class and point information through the IEA website under Archived Results.

Changing Teams

New rule starting with the 2014-2015 season

2304.9 An Individual may switch teams by filing a Change of Team Form and new membership form with the IEA Membership Secretary. Once a team change request has been filed and processed then the following stipulations apply:

A rider will be eligible to compete for the new team once their forms have been fully processed and deemed eligible as an addition on the new teams' roster. Standard membership timelines will apply.

A rider may be used as a point rider for the new team if they have not yet competed during that competition year. If a rider has competed that season, they are not eligible to be designated as a point rider for the new team during that competition season.

Riders will carry any individual points earned and the number of shows in which they competed to the new team.

The Change of Team form will be available on the website in August. A Change of Team form is only necessary if a rider has already become a member of another team for this season.

Point Standings

IEA Rule 3205.7 Individual and Team points will be posted on the IEA website.

Points become final after they have been posted for 21 days barring a ruling by the ZEC or National Steward.

Coaches are responsible for verifying points and must immediately notify the IEA Membership Office of any discrepancies.
